Technics SL1200 Regulator progress – last RC stage

Rechecking my old notes I did some changing to the PCB of the regulator

I previously had added an input resistor and capacitor in this board schematic. I wanted to have the last RC stage closer to the regulator, so that the umbilical’s inductance does not affect the transient response. But I never truly allowed for an adequately big capacitor.

So the current version of the PCB allows for a capacitor with 35mm diameter. The platter’s position allows for something like 30mm in height, which means we can easily use capacitor even up to 10000uF at 50V

The smaller electrolytic capacitor footprints where also changed to 10mm diameter, so that I have more flexibility in sizes.

I also added a test point for the voltage reference.

And finally, I added a MAX07NG spring clip for the TO220 regulator. The pad on the SL1200 is thin and is getting pretty worn out in my turntable because of the experimentation all those years. So I will use this instead to just push the chip to the metal. The PCB should be rigid enough.

Other than that, I added a few missing 3d models.

Finally, I am thinking of adding a MOV or a TVS to protect the rare ICs from experimentation accidents.
